Winter Happenings - Kids Edition!

Posted on:

Here in the Children's Room, we're big fans of winter! Playing in the snow, drinking hot chocolate, cozying up with a book and a blanket - there's so much to love about this season, and so many ways to celebrate it here at the JHPL.

Beginning on December 15th, kids are invited to join our Winter Reading Challenge by picking up a reading map in the Children's Room. If they complete each task that lines the wintry forest path and turn it back in before January 31st, they'll win a coupon for a FREE COOKIE from The Bake Shoppe at The Publick House! Is there anything better than a sweet treat and a good story?

We'll welcome 2026 with a fun and child-friendly New Year's Noon party on Wednesday, December 31st from 11:30AM-12:30PM over at the Federated Church's Fellowship Hall, right next door to the library. With crafts, light snacks, and a countdown to 12PM, all ages can enjoy the fun of NYE without having to stay up late!

Then, in January, we'll be kicking off a new series of programs called "Let's Meet...", where kids and their families will get to meet and talk with people from different careers. Our first special visitor will be a veterinarian, followed by firefighters in February. Who else will we get to meet in 2026? Stay tuned to find out, and have a wonderfully warm and happy winter!
